What's New for Silversea Cruises?

A third sister-ship to Silver Muse will launch in the fourth quarter of 2021, to be named Silver Dawn. As with all current Muse-class ships, highlights will include a variety of dining venues in place of a traditional main restaurant, all-suite accommodations and subtle but luxurious touches.

Silver Wind and Silver Whisper are both scheduled to undergo refurbishment in December 2017. For Silver Whisper, this refurbishment will incorporate technical improvements and extensive redesigns of public areas and suites, including carpet replacements, La Terrazza, the Observation Lounge and Panorama upgrades. Silver Wind will also be upgraded in a similar format to the recently debuted Silver Muse, with enhancements such as a new lighting system and new divider solutions for suite balconies, as well as upgraded public area decor.

Silversea has announced their plans for a new cruise ship to launch in 2020: Silver Moon, sister ship to Silver Muse. Notable features include a "Green Star 3 Design", which means the ship will be specially built and equipped to prevent air and water pollution. Additional enhancements are planned for Silver Moon's onboard experience, the details of which are to be released in the upcoming months.

In November 2017, Silver Cloud was moved to Silversea’s luxury expedition fleet. Planned to sail to mostly polar water, the elite, ultra-luxury cruise ship was converted into an ice-class ship during an extensive refurbishment that began in August 2017. Silver Cloud now has the highest space ratio and highest staff-to-guess ration among luxury ice-class expedition ships, and is the only to offer guests five unique dining options.

In October 2016, Silversea commenced rolling out a $170 million refurbishment plan, the largest in its history, across its fleet, starting with Silver Whisper, Silver Discoverer and Silver Wind. Enhancements included suite upgrades, the addition of marble flooring to bathrooms, revamped public spaces and dining areas, as well as the addition of two new satellite antennas which will vastly improve internet speeds onboard.

In July 2015, Silversea announced the commission of their new flagship, Silver Muse, to debut in Spring 2017. The new ultra-luxury ship became the ninth, and largest, addition to Silversea's fleet at 40,000 tons, and accommodates 596 guests. Partnering with shipbuilder Fincantieri, Silversea aims to incorporate a number of enhancements to the onboard experience, while raising the bar on their own uncompromising brand of comfort and service.

In October 2014, Silversea's Silver Galapagos emerged from a month-long dry dock in Panama, completing the second phase of renovations to the all-suite ship. Galapagos’ interior was updated to an elegant blue and beige palette that echoes the recently refurbished Silver Discoverer, and all of the ship's suites, corridors, and the Explorer Lounge were completely refurbished. This dry dock concluded Silversea's initial partial refurbishment of Silver Galapagos last year, which brought new amenities, decor, and public spaces onboard.

From March 2014 onward, the 128 guest Silver Discoverer will be sailing all over the Pacific with stops in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, the South Pacific Isles, Western Russia, Alaska, and even the Pacific Northwest.
