♦ Gateway Arch National Park

You can’t miss this park, considering that the Gateway Arch that welcomes visitors is the tallest building in Missouri. This 90-acre park is part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and features the arch and St. Louis’ Old Courthouse, as well as a museum. There is an observation center at the top of the arch, which you can reach by a tram system. Beneath the arch, there is a museum where you can learn about fascinating topics in U.S. history (such as the westward expansion) as well as about the arch’s construction.

♦ St. Louis Zoo

If you love animals and have some time before or after your cruise from St. Louis, the St. Louis Zoo is definitely worth checking out! This zoo features some truly unique exhibits, such as a touch pool with sharks and stingrays, a children’s zoo (where staff bring out some of the animals for kids to get a closer look), and animals from all over the world! Admission to this zoo is free, although certain exhibits require a cover charge. Either way, this is a great activity for families, or for those who are interesting in seeing some really unique animals! Admission fees are subject to change. ♦ Missouri Botanical Gardens

Also known as “Shaw’s Garden,” these botanical gardens are the second largest in the country, with over 6.6 million specimens in its herbarium alone! Among some of the attractions here are the Tower Grove House (a beautiful Victorian country home), Climatron (the world’s first dome-shaped greenhouse), a biblical garden (featuring many of the plants mentioned in the Bible), and a Butterfly House on top of many relaxing water features, statues, and reflecting pools. This is a great place to spend some time walking around and exploring before or after your cruise.
