Tour Begins: 6:30 PM, Lausanne Palace. A transfer is included from Geneva Airport to Lausanne Palace, a grand Belle Époque hotel in the heart of Lausanne with magnificent views of the Alps mirrored in the ripples of Lake Geneva. Lausanne is known as the Olympic Capital, where the beauty of the Alps meets elegant architecture. This evening, gather for a welcome reception and dinner at your hotel, where Swiss hospitality sets the tone for the days ahead.
Wake to the romance of Lausanne, a city layered in history and crowned by its 13th-century Gothic cathedral. This morning, set out on foot with a local guide through Lausanne's Old Town, where cobbled streets wind past colorful façades and timeworn fountains. The air carries the irresistible scent of chocolate, and your tour includes stops at beloved chocolatiers whose techniques date back generations. After a lunch of Swiss specialties, continue to Domaine Croix Duplex, located in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards, with its terraced vineyards set against a backdrop of mountains and lake. Enjoy a tasting here, learning about and sipping wines that have been produced for centuries. Dinner is on your own.
Lausanne is located on Lake Geneva and is a French-speaking region of Vaud, Switzerland. It's more than a charming lakeside medieval city; it's home to the International Olympic Committee headquarters. The Olympic Museum celebrates the history of the Olympics and the past and modern games. On a visit here you'll explore the Greek origins of the games, the evolution of sports equipment and rules, and the Olympics' mission to promote world peace. Enjoy lunch before boarding the GoldenPass Train, one of Switzerland's most scenic rail journeys. With panoramic windows framing the view, the train glides past chalet-dotted meadows, mirror-bright lakes, and forests brushed with mist. Once favored by European royalty and Belle Époque artists, this route captures the timeless magic of the Swiss countryside. Disembark in Interlaken, cradled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, where the air smells of pine and the peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau rise like a trinity of stone. Dinner is served at your hotel this evening..
It wouldn't be a complete trip to Switzerland without a visit to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe" - the highest railway station in Europe and the center of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, standing at 11,332 ft. above sea level with panoramic views of a wonderland of ice, snow, and rock. Enjoy the ascent with views of the longest glacier in the Alps towards Italy, France, and Germany, and at the top on the Sphinx Terrace, take in views of the Black Forest and the Vosges, as well as the Aletsch Glacier. The highest manned research and weather station in Europe is also located on the Jungfraujoch. Enjoy lunch on your own up here before taking a cable car ride back down. Dinner at your leisure this evening is back in Interlaken.
Travel to Brienz, where the scent of sawdust and mountain air mingles in the birthplace of Swiss woodcarving. You may wish to visit the Trauffer family workshop and meet the artisans who breathe life into whimsical bears and cows – figures cherished by generations of collectors around the world. Their work is a celebration of tradition, precision, and pride. Alternatively, visit the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum, where more than 100 historic farmhouses and village buildings from across Switzerland have been reassembled, each telling stories of daily life in the Alps – cheesemaking, blacksmithing, weaving – all kept alive through hands-on demonstrations. Enjoy a lunch of local fare before continuing to Lucerne, where you'll gather for a local dinner.
Bid farewell to Interlaken and travel east to Lucerne, whose medieval charm is reflected in the waters of Lake Lucerne. Lunch awaits at the Pfistern Guild Hall, one of the city's oldest establishments. Later, cross the Chapel Bridge, a beloved 14th-century wooden walkway once used for defense, and stroll through the Old Town, where every corner feels like a Renaissance painting.
This morning, board the historic Mount Rigi Railway, Europe's first mountain railway, ascending to a summit that has drawn pilgrims, poets, and painters since the 18th century. The views are just as transcendent today – stretching across lakes and the Alps in every direction. At the top, enjoy a lunch of hearty Swiss specialties accompanied by traditional music – accordion melodies and yodeling. Descend by cogwheel train to Vitznau, where you'll board a private boat for a serene cruise across Lake Lucerne, its deep blue surface broken only by ripples and reflections. This evening, gather for a farewell dinner at your hotel.
Tour Ends: Lucerne. Fly home anytime. A transfer from Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern to Zurich Airport is included. Please allow a minimum of three hours for flight check-in at the airport.
