A cruise tour (also known as a cruisetour) is a vacation package that combines a cruise with a multi-night, in-depth, land tour to desirable inland destinations that a ship cannot reach. To put it even more simply, Cruise + Land Tour = Cruise Tour!

♦ What Destinations are Available on a Cruise Tour?

There are many destinations that cruise tours can be arranged for. Alaska cruise tours and Europe cruise tours tend to be the most popular cruise tour destinations. Other destinations often featured on cruise tours are Asia, Australia, the Canadian Rockies and South America. One of the newer cruise tour destinations is the Middle East, which is featured on several Royal Caribbean cruise tours. Only select cruise lines offer cruise tours. Among them are Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean. ♦ What is the Typical Length of a Cruise Tour?

Including both the cruise and land portions, cruise tours are usually at least 9 days in length, but can be well over 20 days long. If you desire an even longer cruise tour, we can customize such a trip for you.

♦ How Can I Book a Cruise Tour?

Many cruise tours can be booked via the internet or phone (including select cruise tours of Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean); however, there are a few cruise lines (such as Costa Cruises and Holland America Line) that have cruise tours that must be booked over the phone. You can select more than one option in most of the form fields. Here are explanations of the search options we get asked about the most often:

Departure Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that start in a specific port, you can specify it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that start at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if you only want to view cruises that start in either New York or Boston.

Arrival Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that end in a specific port, you can specify it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that end at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if you only want to view cruises that end in either New York or Boston.

Ports of Call: You can the type name of one port that you would like all your search results to include. For example, if you type Barcelona all of the search results will include cruises that include Barcelona (even if it's not a starting or ending port in the itinerary). Be sure to spell the port name correctly!

Max Occupancy: Allows you to view search results that only include ships that have accommodations for a minimum amount of people per room. For example, if you select "5 and more" your search results will only include ships that have at least one room type that would accommodate at least 5 people. The pricing that displays on the search results page will be the per person pricing based on a room for two people. Proceed further in the online booking process to view the pricing for accommodations for a different occupancy.

Kid-Friendly: Shows cruises that are great choices for those traveling with children and teens. Includes ships with youth programs and/or youth-friendly public spaces. Programs and public spaces are subject to change, at the discretion of the cruise line.

If you check the Cruise Only option, you will only see results that are for a cruise vacation. If you check the Cruise Line Tour option, you will only see vacations that include a cruise + land tour package (also known as a Cruise Tour). Leave both unchecked to view results that include both vacation types.

Here are explanations of the search options:

Destination: You can use the dropdown on the left to indicate if there's a specific type of search you want to do (for example, if you want to search for a hotel near a certain airport, cruise port or address. Select Hotel if you want to search by hotel name. You can use the search field to the right of the dropdown to input the search term (for example, the hotel name, the airport you want a hotel near, etc.).

Country of Citizenship: Specify which country you are a citizen of. Certain hotels require this information in order to provide pricing.

Guaranteed Only? Certain tour operators will guarantee that select tours will occur, as some tour operators reserve the right to cancel a tour (and refund anyone that is booked) if not enough reservations are made on it.

Please note that a guaranteed tour can still be cancelled if the tour operator has terms in place that allow them to (for example, including but not limited to, if weather does not permit the tour to operate safely).
