This theme park is a great place to spend time before or after your cruise from Galveston. Within Moody Gardens is the Aquarium Pyramid (featuring a variety of exhibits, including one with penguins), the 10-story Rainforest Pyramid (containing over 1,000 species of exotic plants from the rainforests of Africa, Asia and the Americas) , a golf course (called Moody Gardens Golf), 4D theater, IMAX 3D theater, and even a hotel (appropriately named Moody Gardens Hotel).
♦ Bishop’s Palace
One of the grandest and best-known buildings in Galveston is Bishop's Palace. This Victorian castle, (built from 1886 to 1892), was named one of America's 100 most important buildings by the American Institute of Architects. This palace features luxurious furnishings, rare woods, amazing fireplaces and much more. Guided tours of the palace take place hourly. Admission is $14 for adults, and $9 for students (ages 6-18). Children 5 and under are free. Hours of operation are Sunday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Hours of operation (may be seasonal) and admission costs are subject to change, so please verify them with Bishop's Palace prior to your visit.

This huge park is filled with many things to do, making it a great place to check out before and/or after cruise. Within this park, you will discover a beach and campgrounds, as well as birding walks (which is a popular thing to do there). Galveston Island State Park was devastated by Hurricane Ike, but since 2009, it has been undergoing a revitalization process to bring it back to greatness. The park is open daily and has a $5 per person entrance fee for guests who are 13-year-olds and older (children 12 and younger are free). Operating times and entrance fees are subject to change, so please verify them with the park directly prior to your vacation.
