Munich’s Christmas Market will draw you into the season before Salzburg carries that Christmas feeling into the Alps. Here, Glühwein warms your hands while the scent of roasted nuts, spice and sweet pastries draws you through the market beside snow-capped spires. Your Local Specialist connects the city’s music-filled streets with Mozart’s story before a traditional dining experience at Swarovski Crystal World, where sparkling installations play with light and color. In Freiburg, medieval cobbles are underfoot as you pass steep-roofed houses and painted shutters. Further west in Strasbourg, France’s oldest Christmas market welcomes you with the sweet scent of cinnamon drifting along streets lined with half-timbered façades.

1Munich at Christmas: Marienplatz and Beyond
On your arrival in Germany you meet your Travel Director, who will introduce the streets and squares that shape Munich. The route leads you towards Marienplatz, where the Town Hall rises above the square, with the Glockenspiel set high in its facade. Around you, the Christkindlmarkt brings Christmas into full color, with music in the air and warm lights glowing across the market. Later, you join your Travel Director and fellow guests for a dinner with wine.

2Discover Munich: The Bavarian Capital
You decide how the day unfolds. You might join a Local Specialist for a food walking tour through the city center, following the scent of baked pretzels, roasted meats and sweet market treats. Or you can visit the Residenz, moving through its museum and Treasury where polished rooms, detailed craftsmanship and centuries of royal life lay in front of you. Later, you may choose today’s Optional Experience to explore the royal palaces of the Bavarian Alps, where ornate façades and palace towers stand against the mountain landscape.

3Chiemsee To Salzburg: Mozart And Markets
Your journey continues past Lake Chiemsee, often called the Bavarian Sea, on your way to Salzburg. 4Ride Through The Old Town of Innsbruck
The clip of hooves against Innsbruck's streets fills the morning as your horse-drawn carriage ride weaves through the Old Town. Later, the buzz of the Christmas Market gathers below the Golden Roof, framed by medieval façades. Here, the square draws everything close: the glow from the stalls, the sound of market voices and the gilded tiles catching the light above you.

5Lindau, Bodensee And The Black Forest
On your return to Germany, you pass through the Arlberg tunnel, Austria’s longest road tunnel, before arriving at Lindau. * TRIP RUN BY INSIGHT VACATIONS.* DAY 1: Complimentary arrival transfers depart Munich Airport (MUC) from Munich Airport Terminal 2 at 10:00 and 13:00 and Terminal 1C at 10:15 and 13:15 on the first day of the tour. Guests should arrive at least 2 hours before the last transfer time. Guests who have booked their extra hotel nights with us, or whose flight times do not coincide with the shuttle coach timings may purchase a chargeable transfer. * DAY 9: Departure transfers from Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle to Zurich Airport (ZRH) will not be provided by us due to hotel being within a short walking distance from the airport. The Travel Director will be able to advise guests on details to make their own way from the hotel to the airport at a time convenient for their departure flight. No complimentary or chargeable departure transfers available through us. When booking post-night accommodation, guests will make their own way to the airport at a time convenient for their departure flight.* CHRISTMAS MARKETS: Christmas markets are typically open from the start of Advent until December 24, but their exact dates are usually announced only a few months in advance. In general, some cities have only one main square/area with a Christmas Market, while others feature multiple markets dotted throughout the city, each with its own operating dates. Christmas markets are free to enter, and if guests have specific markets they want to see, they can discuss their preferences with their Travel Director for assistance during the tour.* NOTE: This trip falls under LEVEL 1.
