Things to do near Baden-Baden

These are just a few of the more popular tourist attractions in Baden-Baden, along with a brief description:

♦ Bath Houses

There are numerous bath houses in Baden-Baden, but none that are like the Caracalla Spa. This magnificent modern spa features a variety of indoor bathing pools, a hot-and-cold rock grotto, and a steam bath, as well as two outdoor pools and whirlpools. Relax and indulge in the healing properties of thermal spring waters as you take in the lush forestry that surrounds you. The outdoor pools are an especially appealing highlight when it’s cold out! If you are looking for a more classic bath house experience, opt for Friedrichsbad, which features a 17-step spa ritual (including various baths and a brush massage). Note that the experience at Friedrichsbad requires total nudity, while the Caracalla Spa does not.

♦ The Baden-Baden Casino

Another wonderous highlight of Baden-Baden is its grand casino! Since its opening in 1821, this casino offers an elegant, upscale experience (as a jacket and tie for men and elegant clothing for women are required). You will discover sheer beauty inside-out, feeling as though you’ve stepped right back in time. Crystal chandeliers, golden touches and elegant décor all await. Guided tours are available in the morning and you can return in the afternoon to try your hand at the various table games (blackjack, poker, roulette) or one of the many slots.

♦ Roman Ruins

You will discover a great number of ancient Roman ruins in Baden-Baden, and they’re all worth checking out! Located in the Black Forest, the Hohenbaden Castle is a stunning sight with its well-preserved courtyard, walls, and tower. It is even home to a large wind harp! Don’t forget your camera because the hilltop views are simply unbelievable. If you’ve come to Baden-Baden for the bath experiences, you can even tour Roman Bath Ruins to appreciate where the tradition developed. Guided tours are available or you can take your own audio tour. The Roman Bath Ruins are located close to the Baden-Baden Casino, so you can easily hit both attractions in one day!
