Lindblad Expeditions
Experience some of the world’s most extraordinary destinations alongside some of the most skilled environmental and historical authorities worldwide onboard a cruise through Lindblad Expeditions. Lars-Eric Lindblad, known by many as the father of “eco-tourism,” began taking adventure travel expeditions in the late 1950s. His son, Sven-Olof Lindblad, founded Special Expeditions in 1979 as a division of Lindblad Travel (later changing the company name to Lindblad Expeditions). Today, Lindblad Expeditions has a growing fleet of small expedition ships, featuring Zodiacs, sea kayaks, onboard naturalists and underwater cameras. Their ships explore interesting and exotic destinations, such as the Galapagos Islands, Alaska, Egypt, Baja California, the Amazon, Europe and many, many more. Since Lindblad Expedition ships are much smaller than traditional ocean liners, they are able to reach less visited ports of call that larger ships simply cannot reach. If you are looking for a hassle-free cruise experience featuring fine service, comfortable accommodations, mouthwatering cuisine and excellent onboard atmospheres in addition to once-in-a-lifetime shore excursions and adventures, consider booking a voyage with Lindblad Expeditions.
Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic
If you are an active explorer who cares about the planet, you are a great fit for a Lindblad expedition. Since 2004, Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society have joined forces with a fantastic collaboration that involves exploration, research, technology, and conservation, resulting in extraordinary travel experiences for you. While on a Lindblad cruise, you are able to interact with world-renowned scientists, naturalists, and researchers, National Geographic experts, uncovering the wonders of nature through the assistance of Lindblad’s skilled specialists that utilize state-of-the-art exploration tools. Every cruise has an expert National Geographic photographer onboard, and most feature a certified photo specialist who is happy to give you pointers on improving your photography skills.

What’s New for Lindblad Expeditions?
Lindblad Expeditions announced a new polar expedition ship, National Geographic Endurance, in March 2018, due to launch in 2020. The ship’s Polar Class 5 rating will allow for traveling polar environments during any time of the year, vastly enhancing Lindblad’s reach. This 126-guest expedition ship will feature a specially-designed bow that will maximize fuel efficiency so that it can operate extensively in remote destinations and will be fitted with zero-speed stabilizers to ensure a comfortable voyage. 75% of its staterooms will feature balconies and there will be multiple points throughout the ship designed for optimal observation, plus an outdoor barbecue area.
National Geographic Orion set course for Europe following her Antarctic season in early 2016. These unique voyages travel to Portugal, Spain, France, England, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, the Baltic Republics and Scandinavia. Onboard, Lindblad has staffed their ship with an extraordinary team from a diverse scope of expertise: special speakers will be drawn from the top tiers of journalism, science and world affairs as part of the “Global Perspectives Speakers” program, and each voyage will feature a National Geographic photographer.
On May 8, 2014, Lindblad’sNational Geographic Explorer made history by being the first passenger vessel to call at the medieval port of Harlingen, in the Netherlands. Captain Ben Lyons was presented with a port of call placard to commemorate the first visit, and local news crews covered the event.
