♦ Brederode Castle

If you’re looking for an authentic learning experience, you’ll find what you’re looking for in Ijumuiden! One of the most interesting highlights of the city is the Brederode Castle, which currently stands in ruins. Originally built during the 13th century, the castle incurred a few attacks throughout the centuries and ceased operation during the 16th century. Today, you can tour the ruins during the summer for a small admission fee. You’ll be free to explore the castle on your own, allowing you to truly take in its medieval atmosphere. Don’t miss the views from the top of the tower! One unique feature of the tour is that you can enjoy a coffee on one of the castle’s terraces. Cultural events, music performances, and shows also occasionally take place here in the summer.
