Linz is filled with gorgeous architectural structures, innovative museums, historic landmarks, cultural centers and more. Plus, the city is very navigable, as you can easily explore on foot or bike! Things to do near Linz (Salzburg)

These are just a few of the more popular tourist attractions in Linz, along with a brief description:

♦ Ars Electronica Center

Also called the “Museum of the Future,” the Ars Electronica Center is where you can go to witness some of the world’s most modern and innovative technology. Among some of the exhibits featured in this museum include technologically advanced robotics, 3D printing, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, simulations, projection walls, and rotating exhibits on a number of interdisciplinary topics. Most of the exhibits are interactive and will appeal to both children and adults! There is also a restaurant on-site, so you don’t need to rush through the exhibits if you feel your stomach start to growl.

♦ Schlossmuseum Linz

Another museum of interest is Schlossmuseum Linz. While not as technologically advanced as the Ars Electronica Center, this museum takes on the role of a traditional gallery. You can view all sorts of historical artifacts, art displays, and exhibits featuring arms, music, the war, and more. Plus, there will be temporary exhibits set up, which you can research once you’ve picked your vacation dates. With so many incredible things to do, you can expect to spend at least 2 to 4 hours at Schlossmuseum. Guided audio tours are available, which are especially helpful, as most of the exhibit descriptions are written in German.

♦ The New Cathedral

If you are looking to visit the largest church in Austria, then plan to pay a visit to Linz’s New Cathedral. This Gothic-style Roman Catholic cathedral was constructed during the mid-1800s and finished in 1924. With a capacity for 20,000, the New Cathedral is the largest church in the country. Those interested in history will especially appreciate the stained-glass artwork in this church, which depicts local history and the construction of the church. Even if you are not religious, this church is undoubtedly worth a visit just to enjoy its design and architecture.
