Things to do near Tokaj

These are just a few of the more popular tourist attractions in Tokaj, along with a brief description:

♦ Finach Hill Lookout Tower

If you’ve ever wanted to witness where two rivers meet, you can check this sight off your bucket list in Tokaj. A quick 10-minute climb up this tower will reward you with superb views of plains, vineyards, and of course the point where the Bodrog and Tisza Rivers converge. Once at the top, you can sit on one of the benches and enjoy the peaceful ambiance (perhaps with a glass of wine!).

♦ Tokaj Museum

A great way to discover more about Tokaj’s rich history is by paying a visit to the Tokaj Museum. Housed in the former home of a Greek wine trader, you can discover all you’ve ever wanted to know about local history through exhibits displaying artwork and artifacts such as baskets and glasses. Some of the most unique highlights of this museum include the attic (where you can learn more about Hungarian life during the early centuries) and the basement (which houses a wine cellar).

♦ Himesudvar Winery

Wine-lovers rejoice – the Himesudvar Winery is a must-stop during any visit to Tokaj. During your visit here, you can partake in a special wine tasting that consists of a few different wines produced on-site, while learning about each one. You can also opt to tour the wine cellar. This winery is family-owned and is known for its outstanding service and cozy atmosphere. If you’re impressed by what you taste, you can also purchase some wine to bring back home!
