This historic plaza features plenty of open space, a perfect mixture of modern and old buildings, mosaic tiles, water fountrain, and an incredible view of the ocean. The city’s grand church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral, also overlooks this square (so you can easily check off two attractions at once!). This is a great starting point if you plan on exploring the rest of the city, as there are many restaurants and shops nearby (as well as some of the city’s other major attractions). You can discover artifacts such as fossils, models, dioramas, weapons, pottery and all sorts of other exciting artifacts from over the centuries! You will also have the chance to learn more about how the city survived the most catastrophic earthquake in history. For those interested in transportation history, there is also a train museum located next door.
♦ Chapo Lake
If you’re looking for one of the most scenic spots in Puerto Montt, look no further than Chapo Lake! Chapo Lake is an incredibly beautiful and quiet spot where you can escape to for some ultimate R&R! This is also an ideal place to watch the sunset, as you will be rewarded with a spectacular view!
