History lovers taking a cruise from Mobile should consider visiting the Battleship Alabama. This 680-foot-long vessel (launched in 1942) served active duty for the United States military for 37 months during World War II, earning nine battle stars. It is now open to the public for tours, and is open every day except for Christmas. There is an admission fee, but children under 6 years of age are free (subject to change). Hours of operation vary by season.

Open to the public since 1932, this 65-acre area consists of beautiful gardens and a historic 10,500 square foot home.
