2Quito/San Cristobal Island
Fly to San Cristobal, the easternmost island of Galapagos and one of the oldest. The principal town is Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the capital of the Galapagos. Visit the beach and keep your eyes open for marine life while you chill out in the sand.
Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on Mann Beach or swimming with playful sea lions as the frigate birds glide on the thermals.In the evening, opt for a dinner and sample some of the island's fresh fish and produce.

3San Cristobal Island
Snorkelling trip to Isla Lobos to search for marine life like sea turtles and manta rays and swim with sea lions. In the afternoonvisit the Interpretation Centre and learn more about the history of the Galapagos, sometimes referred to as "the Enchanted Islands." Spend the rest of the remainder of the day relaxing on Mann Beach or swimming with playful sea lions as the frigate birds glide on the thermals.
The day begins with a short boat ride to Isla Lobos, an islet populated by numerous sea lions, which give the island its name. Spend the day snorkelling - a fantastic opportunity to observe the abundant marine life that Galapagos is renowned for. Back aboard the boat, sail to San Cristobal, visit the Interpretation Center and then have free time to enjoy the beaches and surrounding areas.

Snorkel the waters of peaceful Isla Lobos, amid the families of sea lions and their inquisitive pups looking to play. Spot nesting frigatebirds and the famous blue-footed boobies resting on the shore. Be sure to bring your camera to catch some snaps at this prime wildlife watching haven.

6Santa Cruz Island
In the morning, walk to "Las Grietas" located across Academy Bay. Pass through a rugged cactus forest on the way to this stunning lagoon. Afterwards, enjoy time to relax at the Playa de los Alemanes. In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research Station, one of the places where you can easily spot the famous Galapagos tortoises.

Swimming at Las Grietas
Cross a cactus forest looking for Darwin finches and lava lizards on the way to Las Grietas, a local swimming hole. The cool, bright turquoise water separates two volcanic cliffs. Fed by the ocean from one end and a river from the other this unique brackish pool is perfect for swimming.
Fausto Llerena Breeding Center & Charles Darwin Research Station Visit
Visit Fausto Llerena Breeding Center a great place to observe many species of tortoises. Brought back from the brink of extinction, see the famous Galapagos tortoise up close - a corral houses adult tortoises, and a nursery cares for the young until around age three when their shells have hardened. This area also houses the Charles Darwin Research Station, a scientific organization initiated in 1964, which works to preserve the Galapagos' ecosystem through the conservation efforts of scientists, researchers, and volunteers. While the offices themselves are not open to visitors, the research station provides a study location for international scientists and environmental education for the local community.

7Santa Cruz Island/Quito
Fly back to Quito, where the rest of the day is free to explore the city.
After a transfer over the island of Santa Cruz, arrive at Baltra Island for our return flight to Quito. Upon arrival in Quito, transfer to the hotel for free time and one last night with newfound friends.
G Adventures strongly recommends not booking departure flights on the day the group returns to Quito. Local flight times are often subject to change and could potentially cause issues if delayed. We recommend booking flights on the last day of the tour as noted on the Full itinerary page.

What are the mandatory travel insurance requirements for this trip?
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate on any of our trips. When travelling on a group trip, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance has been sighted by your CEO, who will take note of your insurance details. When selecting a travel insurance policy please bear in mind that all clients must have medical coverage and that we require a minimum coverage of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. If you have credit card insurance we require proof of purchase of the trip (a receipt of credit card statement) with a credit card in your name. What are the meals like on this trip?
Eating is a big part of traveling. Travelling with G Adventures you experience the vast array of wonderful food that is available out in the world. Generally meals are not included in the trip price when there is a choice of eating options, to give you the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat. It also gives you more budgeting flexibility, though generally food is cheap. Our groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your leader will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. For all trips please refer to the meals included and budget information for included meals and meal budgets.

What is the role of the group leader during this trip?
All G Adventures group trips are accompanied by one of our group leaders, a G Adventures representative, or an expedition team. The aim of the group leader is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. They will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the countries visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects. We also use local guides where we think more specific knowledge will add to the enjoyment of the places we are visiting- we think it's the best of both worlds.
International Flights
No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. However, on some combo tours travelling between two different countries, international flights are included as part of the itinerary and price of the tour. Please speak to your GCO or booking agent for further details. In addition, check-in times and baggage allowances/restrictions vary by airline and can change at any time. Please note that the Quito international airport (UlO, Mariscal Sucre) will be closed on the following dates in 2026 for preventative maintenance on the runway: April 11; May 9, 16 & 30; June 6; September 5, 12 & 26; October 3 between the hours of 2am and 2pm. As well as October 17 between the hours of 6am and 6pm. For passengers flying in or out of Quito on these dates, please double check flight schedules with your airline in case of changes. Internal flights within Ecuador and Galapagos will be adjusted accordingly and any changes to schedules will be communicated at the welcome briefing.Family adventures are designed for groups travelling with children between the ages of 6 and 17. What are the packing guidelines and luggage restrictions?
We recommend the use of a duffel bag or backpack (whichever you find easiest to carry). A good size daypack is also essential.Please note that Galapagos is a protected National Park so your luggage will be checked before arrival and departure to and from the islands. Don’t bring any food, seeds or other organic material that could affect the delicate ecosystem of the islands.Please note the weight limits for your luggage: 23 kg (50 lbs) for checked bags and 8 kg (17 lbs) for carry on luggage.

What are the tipping guidelines for this trip?
Tipping is an expected - though not compulsory - component of your tour program and an expression of satisfaction with the persons who have assisted you on your tour. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. At the end of each trip if you felt your G Adventures CEO did an outstanding job, tipping is appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference, however as a guideline a per traveller tip of 5-10 USD, per day for your CEO.
