Welcome to the capital of Cambodia - Phnom Penh! Upon arrival, you'll be greeted at the airport and taken to your hotel. After settling in, kick off this exciting venture by joining the whole GX crew for a spectacular 'Temple Fair' themed welcome dinner at the historic Wat Phnom. Meet your CEOs and hosts, and get the full down-low on the journey ahead as you dive into an authentic, G-style introduction to the magic of GX Cambodia!
Your opportunity to meet your CEO and fellow travellers, and learn more about your tour. Opt to join the group for a local meal afterwards. Don't forget to see the notice in the lobby (or ask reception) for the official time and place to meet up with the group.
Today's adventure is off to an incredible start. We'll kick things off by exploring the rich culture and vibrant history of Cambodia, from the majestic Royal Palace to the resilience of the Khmer people at S21. After a boxed lunch aboard a scenic river cruise, we'll head to the Silk Village to see traditional weaving in action. Then we'll finish the evening with a delicious, authentic feast at a local restaurant - the perfect end to an incredible day.
Visit the King's current dwelling place, a magnificent riverside palace with classic Khmer architecture. Dress appropriately please; visitors must wear clothing that covers knees and shoulders, and shirts must reach the elbow.
Learn about the dark history and devastation that occurred at Security Prison 21 (S-21); the prison, used by the Khmer Rouge regime, is now Tuol Sleng Museum. Take a guided tour to hear the stories behind the sombre photos lining the museum walls.
We leave the capital behind and head for the jungle - specifically, the ancient temple complex of Sambor Prei Kuk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where stone towers have been quietly reclaimed by the forest for centuries. We'll refuel with lunch at a local homestay, offering a glimpse into daily life and traditional cuisine prepared by the Sambor Prei Kuk Community, a Planeterra partner that generates income for local families while supporting conservation efforts in surrounding villages. Then we'll roll into Siem Reap - the town that lives in the shadow of Angkor and thrives on it. We'll end the day with a delicious dinner at the hotel.
An early start rewards us with a breathtaking sunrise over Angkor Wat, followed by a community-supported breakfast at Spoons, a Planeterra partner, that empowers local youth through hospitality training and career opportunities. You'll then explore the "city on stilts" at Kampong Phluk Floating Village. We'll cap off the day with dinner at a local restaurant and, if you like, you can really get the night started among the neon lights and bustling energy of Pub Street.
Witness the iconic sunrise over Angkor Wat before returning back to the hotel for breakfast.
Hop-on a wooden boat and enjoy a scenic ride through the high-stilt house village of Kampong Kleang.
Happy World Tourism Day! Today is the centerpiece of our trip: the World Community Tourism Summit. You'll join industry trailblazers to discuss how travel can be a force for global good. To cap off this transformative day, we'll host a grand, final celebration at an iconic secret location featuring traditional cultural performances under the stars.
All good things must come to an end, and today is departure day. After a final breakfast, pack your bags and bid farewell to the new friends you've made from all over the world. Take a moment to cherish the incredible memories we've made together as we head to the airport for your journey home. Thank you for exploring the Kingdom of Wonder and sharing our love for making the world a better place. Until we meet again!

Think of GX as the ultimate community tourism celebration. From September 23–28, Cambodia hosts six days of immersive experiences that blend premium travel with real purpose. It's a global gathering where you'll go beyond the typical tourist path to engage directly with local partners and see how your trip creates genuine economic growth for the communities you visit. Upgraded stays, world-class celebrations, and a front-row seat to travel as a force for good — all in one week.
Every G Adventures trip is built on purpose — but GX dials that up to 11. While a regular tour might visit one or two community projects, GX is a week-long celebration where community tourism is the main event. You'll skip the usual tourist path for a premium, all-in experience with upgraded stays and all the logistics — meals, transport, tips — already handled. You'll spend time with local legends like the Lady Tuk Tuk Drivers and the team at New Hope, seeing exactly how your travel dollars drive real economic growth. From exclusive access to world-class celebrations to high-energy moments you won't find anywhere else, GX is your chance to see just how much of a force for good travel can be.
GX is for anyone who believes travel should be a force for good — from values-driven explorers to the industry professionals and travel agents who help them see the world. It brings together G Adventures travellers, top-tier journalists, and passionate people who want to see community tourism in action. You don't need to work in travel or social impact to join. While the week closes with a professional summit featuring world-class speakers, it's first and foremost a celebration of how travel creates real opportunities for local communities. Whether you're a storyteller, a decision-maker, or simply a traveller who wants to go beyond the tourist path — GX is for anyone ready to help shape the future of travel.
Since GX is a special celebration, group sizes are a bit larger than usual, typically 20–25 travelers (compared to the 16–22 you might see on a regular tour). To keep that intimate feel you love, we bring in extra CEOs for every group. This way, you get to enjoy the high-energy, "big community" feel of the event without losing the personalized, hands-on care that makes our trips so special.
GX turns travel energy into direct action. Every ticket supports Planeterra's mission, and to date the event has raised over $1.2M USD for their global initiatives. Your attendance helps fuel Project 300 — an ambitious plan to uplift and support 300+ communities worldwide through the power of community-driven tourism.
A GX Ambassador is anyone who believes that travel can change the world. No media credentials required. No industry connections needed. Just a genuine passion for travel that does good.By choosing this trip, you're not just booking a holiday — you're directly supporting local social enterprises and joining a global community dedicated to travelling better. You'll experience the World Community Tourism Summit firsthand and become part of a movement that's changing what travel can mean.If that sounds like you, you're already halfway there.
