For example, a 3 star quality rating means that it is a more standard/economical tour, while 5 stars is a very luxurious tour that often includes a lot of amenities.

From snowshoeing to backcountry skiing, your stay at this property allows you to enter the peace and quiet of a Canadian winter wonderland in a serene setting.

Start with a guided CEO-led hike with snowshoes on a nearby trail down to the lighthouse where you'll be met with magnificent views along the Saguenay fjord. Sip on some hot chocolate to help you warm up a bit while enjoying the scenery before hiking back up to the lodge. After lunch, the group will be invited to learn about forest survival at the nearby lake and be guided in an ice fishing demonstration by your CEO. Afterwards, enjoy free time back at the lodge to relax before a delicious dinner and a camp fire featuring S'mores and storytelling.

      Exclusive Inclusions:

      Snowshoeing Fjord Lighthouse Hike
      Saguenay 3h

Experience incredible panoramas from the highest cliffs 200 metres above the Saguenay Fjord on a snowshoeing hike to the fjord's lighthouse. Start the hike right near the lodge and wander along the snow-covered trails of Cap au Leste. You'll be walking through Quebec's boreal forest that stretches for miles through unspoiled wilderness, offering many viewpoints along the way. Once at the lighthouse the group will enjoy some hot chocolate to warm those hands before the hike back to the lodge. The hike and stop at the lighthouse will be about 3hrs round trip.

Winter Survival Skills & Ice Fishing Demonstration
      Saguenay 3h

Guided by your CEO the group will spend the afternoon learning about forest survival at the nearby frozen lake. Enjoy an ice fishing demonstration, and learn about the different techniques and ways of mastering this winter activity. Then, enjoy an introduction to some handy survival skills like how to build a camp fire on the snow, and how to build a Quinzhee, cousin of the Igloo and typical outdoor shelter made of large piles of loosely shaped snow in southern Quebec. Return to the lodge feeling more confident in your ability to attempt some essential forest survival tactics should you ever need them.

      Free Time

The group will split into two and play against each other with sticks on the hard snow without skates. Later, hop on a tube and slide down the nearby hills for some forgotten fun in the snow. Tonight, after dinner the group will head back out to snowshoe along the trails by torch light and enjoy some stargazing, which if clear, will be stunning with the lack of nearby light pollution.

Please note should you be booked on one of the holiday departures over Christmas or New Year's, tonight will involve a special dinner and evening celebratory experience.

      Afternoon of Canadian Winter Activities
      Saguenay 3h

Your CEO will take the lead this afternoon and help guide the group through two typical Canadian winter activities. The first will be a hockey game. Accommodation Summary

hotel (2 nts), lodge (4 nts).

Meals Included

4 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners

What are the meals like on this trip?

All meals are included at your winter lodge stay. In these cases, your CEO will be able to suggest some good local restaurants or options for you to choose from.

Group Leader

CEO (Chief Experience Officer) throughout.

What is the role of the group leader during this trip?

This G Adventures group trip is accompanied by one of our group leaders, otherwise known as a Chief Experience Officer (CEO). The CEO will be the group manager, leader and driver - this person is experienced in the routes travelled and will organize and lead the meal preparations and has experience in cooking a variety of local and international dishes for large groups. As the group coordinator and manager, the aim of the CEO is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. While not being guides in the traditional sense, you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the countries visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects. They will also offer suggestions for things to do and to see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. We also use local guides where we think more specific knowledge will add to the enjoyment of the places we are visiting - we think it's the best of both worlds.

What are the tipping guidelines for this trip?

It is customary in North America to tip service providers such as waiters, bartenders and taxi drivers, at approximately 18-20%, depending on the service. Tipping is an expected - though not compulsory - component of your tour program and an expression of satisfaction with the persons who have assisted you on your tour. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. There are times during the trip where there is opportunity to tip any local guides used. Recommendations for tipping local guides would range from $2-8 USD per activity depending on the quality and length of the service; ask your CEO for specific recommendations based on the circumstances and culture. Also at the end of each trip if you felt your G Adventures Chief Experience Officer did an outstanding job, tipping is appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference; however as a guideline $10-15 USD per person, per day can be used as a guide. If your CEO(s) exceeded your expectations, feel free to tip more.

Intra-vacation air (also referred to as internal air) is usually based on economy class seating (do not assume otherwise, unless explicity noted otherwise) and may be 100% non-refundable at time of final payment. Air quotes (including intra-vacation airfare) may be subject to change until final payment has been received by the vendor. Flight confirmation may be based on availability. Air reservations may not be able to be confirmed until a passport copy is received by the vendor. Itinerary details are provided by the vendor. Vendors may reserve the right to change itineraries, even on existing reservations. There may be instances where the name of a tour contains a tour length in it, but where there is a version of the tour that is a different number of days in length. You can check the true length of a tour by referring to the length value listed in association with that tour. Destination images displayed on this web page, some which are supplied by the related vendor and some which are not, are intended to simply give a general representation of the region of the world being visited during the tour. Such images are not necessarily of the exact areas being visited during the tour. Hotel details (including, but not limited to: rating/class, descriptions, images, amenities and addresses) are provided by G Adventures. Hotel amenities may be communicated in shorthand by G Adventures (for example, if "Laundry" is listed that may only mean that the hotel has an optional fee-based service that would allow for your laundry to be done by their staff). We reserve the right to correct errors.
