ATTENTION: Our system has identified that the title of this tour refers to a different length than the correct tour length. This is likely a discrepancy coming over to us from the tour company. Please see the "LENGTH" value listed below as well as the details in the "Tour Itinerary" tab below for the correct length.

Quality
This indicates the overall quality of the tour operator's products. A low rating does not mean it is not good - it just means that it does not include as much, or perhaps is of a more standard quality than the higher quality tours. For example, a 3 star quality rating means that it is a more standard/economical tour, while 5 stars is a very luxurious tour that often includes a lot of amenities.

Overview
You begin on Edinburgh Castle’s esplanade, home of the Military Tattoo, before wandering St Andrews’ cobbled streets and enjoying cream tea at Atholl Palace, with the buttery sweetness of scones adding to your memories of Scotland. Travel north into the Highlands and on to Wick, where your choice experience takes you to Old Pulteney Distillery for a wee dram that warms the tongue. On Orkney, you explore Kirkwall’s 1,000-year-old Norse roots and stand among the ancient stones of the Ring of Brodgar, before sailing across open water to Skye, watching the island rise from the sea among the Inner Hebrides. Your journey ends in Glasgow, among its grand Georgian façades.

Tour Itinerary
Note: The version of the tour that is currently selected (via the "Select Season" options above) will be in the reverse order of what is listed below. Please select a different version of this tour above (that doesn't indicate "Reverse") if you'd prefer the tour in the order listed below.
At a local restaurant, you’ll join your Travel Director for dinner, catching the scent of something rich and savory as the first plates arrive. On select departures, you take your seat on Edinburgh Castle’s esplanade for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Pipes pierce the evening air before drums roll through the grandstand while Highland dancers cross the arena and military performers march beneath the floodlit fortress as color washes over the castle walls.
Meals Included:
Dinner
Accommodations:Malmaison Edinburgh, Leith
Day 2
Discover Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile
With your Local Specialist, you trace Edinburgh from the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the King’s official Scottish residence, to the long sweep of Princes Street. The Scott Monument stands in dark, ornate stone before you continue through the 18th-century New Town, its neoclassical Georgian buildings arranged in graceful rows. You climb the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, crossing the stone threshold to stand beside Mons Meg’s great iron barrel and the polished gleam of Scotland’s Crown Jewels. Afterwards, you can follow your own curiosity, perhaps pausing before a painting that catches your eye in the National Gallery. Later, you can partake in a Scottish cultural dinner, taste peppery haggis and join the turning steps of a ceilidh.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Accommodations:Malmaison Edinburgh, Leith
Day 3
Fife and Beyond: Coast to Highlands
Crossing the Firth of Forth into Fife, you’ll travel north to St Andrews. You pass the Old Course, where golf has been played since the 15th century. From there, you might stop at St Andrews University, where the Prince and Princess of Wales first met, or listen to the surf break along West Sands, where the famous running scene from Chariots of Fire was filmed. At the Victorian Atholl Palace and Gardens, you split a warm scone, spoon over cool cream and jam before savoring each sweet mouthful. You’ll continue through Blair Atholl and past the Grampian Mountains towards the Spey Valley, watching wooded slopes fall towards the River Spey in the heart of Scotland’s whisky country.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Afternoon Tea
Dinner
Accommodations:Kingsmills, Inverness
Day 4
Loch Ness to Wick: Legends and History
Following the shore of Loch Ness, you watch its dark water stretch beneath the Highland hills, every unexpected ripple making you wonder what moves below. At Culloden, you walk across the open moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite army was defeated in 1746, passing clan markers before the Visitor Center’s artifacts and immersive battle theater recreate the devastating final clash. In Wick, your choice experience might lead you among the copper stills and oak casks of Old Pulteney Distillery before you lift a wee dram to your lips. Alternatively, during a MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience at Wick Heritage Museum, you explore old photographs, furnished rooms and fishing displays as local voices recall the herring boats that once crowded the harbor.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Dinner
Accommodations:The Pentland, Thurso
Day 5
Sail to Orkney and Explore Its Past
As the ferry cuts towards Orkney, low green islands spread across the horizon. With your Travel Director, you follow stone-edged roads to the Italian Chapel, where two joined wartime huts are lined with painted brickwork, soft color and delicate metal screens. In Kirkwall, you’ll move through an old Norse town before the road unwinds towards Skara Brae. Here, you look into 5,000-year-old homes, their stone beds, dressers and hearths still resting beside the sea. At the Ring of Brodgar, you walk between weathered stones as the wind presses through the grass and the great circle stretches beneath the open Orkney sky.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Dinner
Accommodations:The Pentland, Thurso
Day 6
Scotland’s Far North: Wick to Skye
Along Scotland’s northern coast, you’ll follow white beaches beneath low hills while burns rush over dark rock beside the road. Further inland, mist may drift through the glens and over the lochs before you cross to Skye, the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. On the way to Broadford, you hear how young Flora MacDonald helped Bonnie Prince Charlie evade capture and reach the island after Culloden. The Cuillin’s jagged ridges cut into the sky ahead, dark against the light and dwarfing the land below.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Dinner
Accommodations:The Dunollie, Broadford
Day 7
Cross from Skye into the Highlands
With Skye yours to explore, you may follow heather-fringed roads until the sea flashes between the hills. Crossing to Kyle of Lochalsh, you pause at Eilean Donan Castle, its towers poised above three sea lochs and mirrored in the water below. At the Commando Memorial, bronze soldiers face the Highlands as you gaze up at Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. In Glencoe, a ranger leads your MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experience through this rare ecosystem, sharing how its fragile habitats are protected and lost native species are being reintroduced. Market-fresh Scottish ingredients and wine fill the dinner table as you dine with your fellow travelers. Perhaps you raise a glass during ‘Toasting to the Lassies’ or lend your voice to ‘Auld Lang Syne’ as the room joins in.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Dinner
Accommodations:Ballachulish, Glencoe
Day 8
Scotland’s Lowlands: Loch Lomond and Glasgow
Beside Loch Lomond, you trace its broad expanse between wooded banks and distant hills, the landscape Sir Walter Scott named the ‘Queen of Scottish Lochs’. You may choose an Optional Experience on the loch, listening to the low hum of the boat and water brushing the hull as the shoreline slips by. In Glasgow, you pass the grand sandstone buildings of George Square before the pointed arches and time-darkened stone of St Mungo’s Cathedral. With the afternoon free, perhaps follow the scent of roasting coffee into a cafe or wander beneath the city’s carved stone frontages.
Meals Included:
Breakfast
Accommodations:Radisson Blu, Glasgow
Day 9
Say Farewell to Scotland in Glasgow
With Scotland’s lochs, glens and stone-built cities still fresh in your memory, you'll transfer to the airport.
Meals Included:
Breakfast

Meals Included
Pricing listed above for tours is per person, in US Dollars, and is based on double occupancy. Pricing may change for other occupancy types. Pricing is based on the last time the vendor electronically sent us pricing data, which varies by vendor (usually occurs overnight or multiple times throughout each day).
Pricing and availability are subject to change and must be confirmed by one of our travel advisors, who can contact the vendor to do so. Intra-vacation air (also referred to as internal air) is usually based on economy class seating (do not assume otherwise, unless explicity noted otherwise) and may be 100% non-refundable at time of final payment. Air quotes (including intra-vacation airfare) may be subject to change until final payment has been received by the vendor. Flight confirmation may be based on availability. Air reservations may not be able to be confirmed until a passport copy is received by the vendor. The following charges are not included in the vacation price unless otherwise noted: airfare to and from the start of your vacation; airline baggage fees including checked and/or excess baggage fees; Federal inspection fees for the Federal U.S. Customs and Immigrations; International Air Transportation tax; agricultural tax; other per person taxes imposed by government entities; airport taxes and fees, including the September 11th Security fee, passenger facility charges, Federal domestic flight segment fees, and U.S. and international arrival and departure and other government-imposed fees added by the airline and applicable at time of booking; port taxes; passports; visas and vaccinations; tips to your Cruise Director, Local Host, driver, Local Guides, and/or ship's crew; gratuities on ferries, trains, and cruise ships; laundry; telephone; minibar; alcohol, beverages, and food outside of the contracted menu as presented at a hotel or restaurant or onboard your vessel (these extra items will be billed to you before leaving the hotel, ship, or restaurant); airport transfers on non-qualifying flights; optional excursions; additional activities and excursions purchased online; porterage at airports and train stations; Travel Protection; and all other items of a personal nature. Itinerary details are provided by the vendor. Vendors may reserve the right to change itineraries, even on existing reservations. There may be instances where the name of a tour contains a tour length in it, but where there is a version of the tour that is a different number of days in length. You can check the true length of a tour by referring to the length value listed in association with that tour. Destination images displayed on this web page, some which are supplied by the related vendor and some which are not, are intended to simply give a general representation of the region of the world being visited during the tour. Such images are not necessarily of the exact areas being visited during the tour. Hotel details (including, but not limited to: rating/class, descriptions, images, amenities and addresses) are provided by Trafalgar. Hotel amenities may be communicated in shorthand by Trafalgar (for example, if "Laundry" is listed that may only mean that the hotel has an optional fee-based service that would allow for your laundry to be done by their staff). We reserve the right to correct errors.
