Disney Magic Refurbishment

Recently refurbished during a dry dock in 2018, Disney Magic received several new upgrades and features. These improvements included the interactive Rapunzel’s Royal Table restaurant, a redesigned teen’s area with all-new activities and the addition of a coffee bar, a redesigned adults-only Cove Café with a new tropical theme, and the addition of Club Disney Junior in Disney’s Oceaneer Club.

What Characters Are On Disney Magic?

What’s a Disney cruise without its magical and beloved characters? While onboard a Disney Magic cruise, you will have many opportunities to meet and greet some of the most popular Disney characters. Whether you want a photo op or you’re just looking to say hello, you will find your Disney Magic cruise brimming with the personalities who brought your favorite movies to life. These delightful experiences can occur throughout the ship, sometimes planned and sometimes as surprise appearances. Some of the characters you may run into include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Chip n’ Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Cinderella, Doc McStuffins, and Queen Elsa and Princess Anna (these two characters require tickets).

Innovative Dining

While sailing aboard a Disney Magic cruise, you may notice a very unique main dining experience, not found on other cruise ships. Instead of traditional assigned dining or open dining, you are placed in Disney Cruise Line’s Rotational Dining program. What this means is that you are your personal wait staff will “rotate” to one of the ship’s three main restaurants every evening, ensuring you enjoy a delicious meal in a unique setting every night of your cruise. Disney Magic’s main restaurants are:

• Animator’s Palate (featuring a live dinner show starring Disney characters)
• Lumiere’s (an elegant Beauty and the Beast-inspired venue serving up French-influenced continental cuisine)
• The brand-new Rapunzel’s Royal Table, a Tangled-inspired venue serving up German style options. A really cool feature of this restaurant is that characters from the hit movie Tangled will come out and perform in between courses

For casual dining onboard Disney Magic:

• You can opt to dine in the indoor/outdoor Cabanas area, a Finding Nemo-inspired breakfast and lunch buffet area with occasional sit-down theme dinners.
• Pete’s Boiler Bites (serving diner-inspired food)
• Eye Scream Treats (a Monster’s Inc.-themed ice cream bar)
• Pinocchio’s Pizzeria

Royal Court Royal Tea

Held once per cruise in Lumiere (decorated to look like a page right out of a storybook), Royal Court Royal Tea is a special (for fee) event where boys and girls can participate in an unforgettable tea party experience with their favorite Disney princesses, chefs and other beloved characters.

In addition to the traditional endeavors of a tea party, there will also be storytelling, dancing, singing and many more special tea-time activities. The menu includes a delicious selection of herbal tea plus one sweet and one savory course. Parents are also invited to attend this once in a lifetime event. At the end of the party, your child will even receive a small collection of keepsake treasures to remember the experience by.

Youth Clubs

Not surprisingly, Disney Magic has a fantastic youth program and wonderful youth facilities located throughout the ship for guests ages 3 months to 17 years.

Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Lab are two connecting areas for guests between the ages of 3 and 12. This facility includes a life-sized Toy Story-inspired “Andy’s Room” play area, a virtual and interactive Avengers game, a fairy tale princess dress-up area called Pixie Hollow and a Club Disney Junior arts and crafts room. The pirate-themed lab area features a large plasma TV screen that plays Disney movies, computers and hands-on activities such as cupcake baking classes.

Edge is an exclusive tweens-only area for 11 to 13-year-olds featuring a hang-out area with computers, video games, and an optional snack bar. Some of the activities that occur here include talent shows and glow parties.

Vibe is the teen’s-only space for 14 to 17-year-olds with TVs, video games, and an optional coffee bar. Some of the games and activities that take place here include video game competitions, dancing, bingo, crafts and more.

Daycare services for youngsters aged 3 months up to 3 years is available at the “It’s a Small World” nursery. Other areas of interest that children and adults can enjoy together are the arcade and the D Lounge, a family entertainment center, where parents can sing, dance, play games and enjoy live shows together.

Senses Spa & Salon

Located on Deck 9 of Disney Magic is a full-service salon and spa, where you can treat yourself to an assortment of world-class spa treatments and salon services. Indulge in a nourishing herbal wrap or leave your skin glowing with a blissful botantical skin therapy. Feel new again with a soothing massage or look your sharpest with a relaxing manicure or pedicure (or both!).

One of the spa’s newest features are private Spa Villas that you can reserve to relax in while benefiting from a handful of serene amenities, such as a personal whirlpool, foot cleansing ceremony and a bathing ritual.

The spa also has a rainforest themed aromatherapy steam room, and a sauna based on a Roman bath. This is an adults-only venue, typically open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on days at sea. The Chill Spa is open to guests ages 13 to 17, featuring a limited spa menu and special offers such as mother/daughter and father/son massages.

Located nearby this area is the ship’s fitness center, also for adults-only. Weight machines, spinning machines, treadmills and ellipticals, and instructional classes (such as Pilates and yoga), are available at the fitness center.
