National Geographic Resolution

Lindblad Expeditions welcomed a new ship to its fleet in 2021. National Geographic Resolution is the sister ship to National Geographic Endurance, ready to explore polar and temperate regions.

The second polar build was christened in Antarctica on November 22, 2021. Her name honors the second voyage of the iconic Captain James Cook, who was the first to circumnavigate Antarctica and whose favorite vessel was named MS Resolution.

The vessel is ready to conquer the most incredible ice adventures as it is of PC5 Category A, the highest ice class. National Geographic Resolution boasts the patented X-Bow exterior design. It guarantees the smoothest, quieter, and most comfortable ride in rough seas and all conditions.

The ship uses the cleanest marine fuels found in every distant area of her operation. Also, National Geographic Resolution has engines exceeding the strictest emissions control standards that do not need hazardous chemical exhaust after treatment.

Inaugural Sailing

The stunning National Geographic Resolution began her inaugural polar sailing on November 17, 2021. Her first voyage was to the Falklands, Antarctica, and South Georgia.

After spending a season in Antarctica, the vessel planned to sail in Europe, letting guests see France, Portugal, Norway, and Scotland, then visit the Arctic, return to Antarctica through the East China Sea and Japan, and voyage to the Pacific Islands.

For the 2022/2023 season, Lindblad Expeditions added 4 Antarctica departures, all set for the early season October/November, aboard the 126-guest polar expedition ship. Seeing the ice-filled ocean, exploring the beautiful landscapes, hiking, skiing in the most breathtaking surroundings, and observing the courtship rituals of penguins is all possible on National Geographic Resolution.

Elegant Accommodations

Every accommodation is outward-facing, featuring big picture windows and everything needed for a comfortable voyage. Besides suites and staterooms, National Geographic Resolution offers probably the most spectacular option for travelers on a first-come, first-served basis - an igloo. It features a bed with a superb mattress under a comfortable duvet, warmed by two hot-water bottles, and great curving glass walls that open breathtaking views of floating Antarctic ice and polar stars.

Activities and Entertainment

One very unique feature of National Geographic Resolution is that every guest can visit the high-tech Bridge, which has one of the best viewports on the exploration ship. Travelers can adorn the views and interact with the captain and officers, a rare experience hardly found on many vessels.

Other interesting public places to explore are:

  • The Observation Deck has floor-to-ceiling windows with incredible views, a restaurant, a bar, an electronic chart table, and more for exciting time passing;
  • A comfortable Lounge Deck is a great place to hang out with friends, offering them to visit Ice Lounge with the iconic Lindblad Circle of Truth, incredible presentations, delicious canapes and cocktails, and the Photo Studio;
  • The Expedition Deck helps to store expedition equipment, has a Garage with kayaks and Zodiacs, loading bays, and other amenities required for explorations off vessel;
  • The Sanctuary offers wellness services and amenities, featuring Yoga Studio, Fitness Studio, two saunas with glass walls to enjoy breathtaking outside views, and massage rooms with facials and other beauty treatments;
  • Guests can visit the ship lab and connect with onboard researchers.

Dining Options

The fresh, sustainable, and locally-sourced cuisine found aboard National Geographic Resolution is full of flavor and destined to melt in your mouth. Travelers can enjoy an open seating dining experience by choosing where and with whom they want to dine. Don't be surprised to find the ship's officers, naturalists, and guest speakers to join in on dining with you.

The two main restaurants aboard the expedition ship are:

  • Restaurant 270° is an open-seating dining venue offering delicious meals, local if possible, and incredible wraparound views;
  • Tupaia is a restaurant on the Observation Deck offering a 24-hour hot beverage station, early breakfasts, and light lunches.
