Overview
Le Champlain
Le Champlain, expected to debut in 2018, will be the second ship of Ponant Explorers, a new class that remains true to the Ponant spirit, gently combining aspects of sophistication, comfort and privacy with contemporary and ecofriendly equipment for a truly unique cruising experience. With only 92 accommodations, 110 crew members, and a maximum capacity for 184 passengers, Le Champlain will continue the Ponant tradition of making you feel like you’re aboard your own private yacht. With its small size and length, Le Champlain is specifically designed for expeditions and will take you to rarely-visited destinations whose secrets are just waiting to be unlocked. The ship is fitted with stabilizers and its hull is reinforced precisely for polar expeditions so you can explore the polar region with utmost safety and security.
Le Champlain Itineraries
Sailing aboard a Le Champlain cruise means you’ll visit fascinating and curious destination that even mid-sized ships are unable to reach. Voyages on Le Champlain range from 7 to 12-nights. Some of Le Champlain’s most recent destinations for 2018 include the Mediterranean, Latin America and the Caribbean. The service provided by the well-trained crew of Le Champlain is discreet, yet specialized. No detail will go unnoticed. This characteristic French yacht will provide an extremely relaxing vacation. A familiar, yet sophisticated, atmosphere will further transport you where you would never imagine. Plus, Le Champlain is a certified “clean-ship,” so its impact on the environment is minimal as it sails the world.
Onboard Features
Le Champlain, like her sister ship Le Laperouse, will have many common areas that are designed to meet all of your needs. The public areas aboard this ship include:
The reception area, where you can find the concierge and excursions desks
Onboard shop
Main Lounge, where you can mingle with other guests and attend hosted activities
Pool deck with an infinity pool that features a counter-current swimming system and panoramic view. It is located near the solarium and outdoor bar and lounge, which offers comfortable seating.
The 188-seat theater hosts daily entertainment and is outfitted with the best sound and lighting technology. It also features an LED stage backdrop for projecting high quality images and videos.
Many of the public areas open to the outdoors so you can enjoy the fresh polar or tropical air.
Le Champlain Menus
An essential part of French culture, gastronomy will naturally have place of pride aboard Le Champlain. You can choose from a relaxed dining atmosphere on deck 3, which offers grilled meats and a variety of salads and desserts daily, or a panoramic restaurant featuring a buffet and table service towards the rear of deck 4. Ponant recently partnered with Ducasse Conseil to heighten its culinary standards even further to provide you with the best culinary experience possible.

Ship Highlights
Comfortable Accommodations
All staterooms and suites come with a private balcony so you can enjoy the majestic view of the horizon. Each room includes an adjustable thermostat, a king size or twin beds, a shower, minibar, flat-screen satellite TV, desktop with stationary, iPod players, on-demand video, a safe, hair dryer, bathrobes, and satellite phone. Also included are French bath products, 24-hour room service and internet accessible wi-fi. Certain suites have a bathtub and suites on deck 5 include complimentary butler service. There are four 484-square foot suites with a private terrace.
Blue Eye Lounge
Le Champlain is the second ship to feature the Blue Eye Lounge, a multi-sensory underwater space located within the hull and beneath the water line, and the first of its kind in the world. The lounge, designed by architect Jacques Rougerie, is illuminated by specially designed lighting and decorated with digital screens that project images filmed by 3 underwater cameras, strategically placed to entice jellyfish and other sea life. The lounge’s sound, coordinated by sound design expert Michel Redolfi, evokes unique acoustic immersion and allows you to listen to live sounds of the environment outside of you through hydrophones that are attached to the ship. The sofas in the lounge vibrate in unison with the live sounds to bring you a true sensory listening experience.
3-Position Marina
Le Champlain features a brand-new hydraulic platform at the rear, which has three adjustable heights. While the ship is sailing, the platform serves as a sun deck. When the ship is docked or anchored, it can lower into the water for easy and convenient Zodiac launching or it can be set to sea level for swimming and watersports.
