Tours of the 14th century Cagliari Cathedral are also popular, as the inside features 12th century sculptures and works of art. There are also a bunch of ancient relics kept in the royal crypt. For breathtaking panoramic views of the city, take a climb up Torre dell’ Elegante, a medieval tower fortification located in the Castello district. Other can’t-miss landmarks include the Roman Amphitheatre of Cagliari, the Basilica of San Saturnino (ancient church ruins), Palazzo Regio (an 18th century palace), Villa of Tigellio (Roman-era ancient ruins).

As Cagliari is situated on an island, it is no surprise that it’s home to numerous beaches! Calamosca Beach is one of its most popular destinations, as it is located just 2.5 miles from the city center. This beach features a romantic cove with crystal blue waters, an ancient lighthouse, and a panoramic lookout. Another popular beach is Poetto, featuring over 6 miles of pristine beaches, complete with beach bars, and calm waters that are perfect for swimming.
